Portal Poreklo.rs works under the patronage of the Society of Serbian Genealogists “Poreklo”. On October 27, 2018, the society established an annual membership fee of 30,00 euros which finances the work of the society and the development of the portal.

Members of the Society with a paid membership fee can get big discount on the Y-DNA analysis of ancestry in the DNA Center for Genetics in Belgrade. Instead of 110,00 euros, members only pay 65,00 euros (5,00 euros for conversion and transaction fees) for their Y-DNA results from this trusted and reliable center. This discount can be used for up to 3 different candidates per membership per year. (Year is defined from 12 months for the day of payment of membership fee.) Since this is a Y-DNA test, it is possible to test only males (women do not have a Y-DNA chromosome.

Additional benefits include access to the Members Only (non-public) part of the Serbian DNA project. This contains more detailed data on the individuals tested as well as numerous tools for searching and analysis. Members also have access to use the vast Digital Library. The library has over 6,000 books and magazines and has the option for a full text search. Members will be provided access to the non-public part of the Forum Poreklo. The Forum offers a variety of topics of discussion including updates on the work of the Society. Our special heraldic page Project Grbovnik is only accessible to members.
